Spring’s arrival follows terrific anticipation on my part. I really can’t remember a year that spring arrived too soon for me. This spring I chose to celebrate with faux flowers. The chandelier in the dining room became a lighted version of a beautiful spring garden.

Supplies: Decorate Your Chandelier for Spring

1. Silk Flowers – I used 3 floral variations in the same color
2. Floral Bind Wire
3. Wire Cutters

The Silk Flowers

Use similar colors for this installation, but vary the type of flower. The three that worked here are: silk magnolia, silk eucalyptus, and a whispy branch stem with similar colored small flowers.

Floral Bind Wire

Many of the stems were not tied to the arms of the chandelier. I simply wedged them in and they held. However, the bind wire came in handy to get the magnolias to stay where I wanted them, and to keep a few of the whispy branches in place. I love using this bind wire (linked below). It doesn’t scratch your decor, and it easily ties with one or two twists.

Wire Cutters

Typically, I do not cut the stems of my faux flowers. When I place them in containers, I just bend the long stem to attain the height I need for the arrangment. But, in this case, the stems would be visible and a tangled mess. These wire cutter did the trick for magnolia stems. The rest of the flower stems were left unharmed.

Arrange the Flowers

It’s probably a stretch to call these arranged. The whispy branches were placed to emerge from the top of the chandelier. The flowy eucalyptus was next, spilling out from the center area. Finally, the magnolia stems were the focal and were placed around the bottom arms of the chandelier and tied on with the bind wire.

I’d say she’s ready for spring cotillion, wouldn’t you! Yes, maybe she has a flair for the dramatic, but I believe she pulls it off with surprising elegance; and the real shocker is how easy it is to achieve this look!  Bind wire and wire cutters  and you’re fully equipped for this assignment.

Similar Floral Supplies for You

I’ve had the floral stems pictured for four years, but I’ve searched for similar faux floral stems that will for this look. For reference, I used 5 large magnolias (focal flower), 6 flowy eucalyptus stems (flowy floral), and 6 flowering branch stems

I Love Spring

In my early years, I’d resurrect the short-sleeved shirts and culottes on the first 65 degree day of the year. My sweet great-grandmother, Nellie, would say, “Now, you know we’ve still got Blackberry,  Dogwood, and and Locust Winter coming.” I have harvested green beans, tomatoes and plucked a few ears of corn in my day, but I offer no claims to being anything close to an informed farmer!  I do, however, surmise a good agriculturalist could verify the validity of Nellie Gray’s weather forecasting.

Fast forward a few decades, and at the first hint of  spring, you’ll find me lugging treasured tubs of spring decor up from the basement. I’m always thrilled to see the birds and birdhouses, bird nests,moss balls, bunnies, Easter eggs, and various other pastel pretties!  At first, I honestly believed I was doing this for the children. Thomas the Great, Jr. and Annalisa the Beautiful have long since lost interest in all spring decor, but I’m still going strong. As a matter of fact, I seem to have elevated my game, evidenced by the dining room chandelier. This maybe the decorating apex of all spring decor ever.
