This post will explore How to DIY a Realistic Cherry Blossom Tree

Can you feel it?

The gentle embrace of impending spring.

Nature has provided a prelude for us in Kansas, stretching all the way to 70 Degrees if only a few hours.

Spring has always been a welcome sight, but I find now it is even more delightful and necessary.

For me, it starts inside.

Long before the cherry blossom, forsythia, or tulips grace the outdoors, I’m scurrying about refreshing the inside.

This Spring I have a gorgeous, yet affordable décor centerpiece that you can create.

Easy DIY Artificial Cherry Blossom Tree

It all started with a classic Kansas wind storm that provided a nature approved pruning of trees along my jogging path. I choose several fallen limbs, giving mind to the shape and the direction of the branches and carried them home.

Faux Cherry Blossom Branches Made Simple

Easy instructions to make faux cherry blossom tree. Once you’ve collected supplies, you should be able to complete this DIY in less than two hours.

Note: This project is best with a tall vase. My vintage vase is approximately 14 inches. The opening is around 4 inches. Here is a source for my ginger jars and a similar vase if you need one.

Step 1: Collect Fallen Limbs and Branches

Take a walk around your neighborhood after a wind storm and you are sure to strike fallen branch gold.

Step 2: Cut Branches to Desired Length and Arrange in Vase

Your tallest branch should be the standard for cutting florals for a vase at 1 1/2 times the height of your vase. Vary the heights of the limbs for a balanced look. Be sure to do a trial run with the branches before cutting. Take note of the bend of the branches to create a pleasing arrangement.

Step 3: Choose Faux Cherry Blossom Stems and Cut Apart

There are faux cherry blossom stems at all price points. For the look I created, I used 5 two branch faux stems. I cut those in half before attaching them to the branches.

If you want a less full look for your cherry blossom tree you could use one two-branch stem, and remove the single blossoms. This would also be a way to lower the cost of the DIY project if your trimming the décor budget. Below I salvaged a single blossom that had fallen off the stem. You can get an idea, here, how that approach would look.

Here are some faux stems at various price points and colors.

Step 4: Attach Faux Cherry Blossom Stems with Floral Tape

Did you know that floral tape comes in more than the standard green color? Neither did I until my friend, Anet, told me it also comes in brown. Brown effectively disappears into your tree limbs.

Step 5: Add Bag Moss

Does a real life cherry blossom tree have moss? Nope. Do I think added some to this faux branch adds some texture and beauty? Yep. You decide for your project.
