This post will discuss How and Where to Style Ginger Jars.
There are lots of ways to style one of the hottest trends in home décor, ginger jars. There are so many design styles where they work including Chinoiserie Chic Style, Traditional Style, Southern Homes, Palm Beach Chic, and even American Farmhouse. If beautiful, elegant, and timeless is the look you are trying to achieve in your home, adding one or two of these stately containers will help you move in that direction. Let’s talk about How and Where To Style Ginger Jars.

The Ginger Jar
Before we get to styling with the beautiful ginger jars, here’s a down and dirty history lesson on the long lived décor item. (Home décor and history, now that’s a class even I could enjoy.)
- They can be traced back to the B.C.’s
- In the 1600s China inspired the blue and white beauties that are copied even today.
- Although blue and white might be the most prevalent, Ginger Jars are found in all the colors of the rainbow.
- Antique Ginger Jars can be quite valuable.
(Most of the above information was read in the home décor bible of southern decorating, Southern Living.)

How to Style Ginger Jars
- Add Seasonal Flowers
- Place a Candle (flameless) Inside
- Group Them for Impact
Add Seasonal Faux Flowers to Your Ginger Jar
I’ve added branches in the winter, gladiolas in the summer, eucalyptus in the fall, and cherry blossoms in the spring. I also love to display peonies in them as well. Last spring I fell in love with these corally peach cherry blossoms. I’ve got the exact ones below for you to shop.

Here are my exact stems and similar ones I’m loving for Spring.
Place a Flameless Candle Inside Your Ginger Jar
Looking from my family room into my dining room in the evening, you will see a beautiful warm glow coming from my large ginger jar in the center of the table. I’ve made sure to use a flameless candle with a timer so that I don’t have to bother taking it in and out each night to turn it off and on. There are also great flameless candles out there with remote control capability. Those would make the task quite easy as well.

Here are a few of my favorite flameless candles.
Group Ginger Jars
Grouping ginger jars, or really any collection, will create a greater impact for your home. We have a tendency to spread our collections out and scatter them around the home. That works okay, but for major impact and to create eye-catching displays group them.

Where Should I Display My Ginger Jars
- kitchen table
- mantel
- coffee tables
- bookcase
- fireplace hearth
There is not a room in the house that wouldn’t be enhanced with a classy ginger jar. I once displayed this large blue ginger jar in my powder room. You will be “relieved” to know, I removed it before it met an untimely demise, as it was a little large for the back of the toliet.

Finally, I wanted to share the smallest blue and white vintage ginger jar in my collection. The little beauty will be seen soon in my Spring Home Tour. I was invited by several other bloggers who love color and combining vintage to join them and I can’t wait to share more of Spring time on King Lane!!

The beautiful, elegant, timeless Ginger Jar is making a resurgence, and I couldn’t be happier. I hope you’ll decide there is a space in your home to display one.
