This post will walk you through 5 Steps to Creating a Simple Fall Tablescape.
Do you love the traditional colors of fall?
I do! As a matter fact, orange is my very favorite all time color in the universe. I find it bright, bold and so cheerful.
The traditional browns and dark plums are beautiful. Here’s a tablescape I did using those colors: Create an Easy Fall Harvest Tablescape.
But, this simple fall tablescape is a little different. Here I used the softer versions of those traditional fall classics, and added one of the colors that’s repeated in several hues throughout my home, aqua.

5 Steps to Creating a Simple Fall Tablescape
- Allow the table runner to determine the color scheme
- Blend Sophisticated Intricate Décor Items with Strong Bold Pieces
- Mix and Match the Everyday Dishes
- Combine Formal Embroidered Napkins with Casual Checked Ones
- Use a Surprise Element

1. Allow the Table Runner to Determine the Color Scheme
I was inspired by this table runner to create a fall tablescape with softer hues of the traditional fall colors. I’ll be the first to admit it was the tassels on the runner that first caught my eye. They add a fun detail to the tablescape.

2. Blend Sophisticated Intricate Décor with Strong Bold Pieces
Perhaps one of the easiest (and most elegant) centerpieces I’ve created is the pairing of these sophisticated mercury glass pumpkins with vintage iron candlesticks. I love the rub combining the juxtaposed items creates in a room.

3. Mix and Match Everyday Dishes and Glassware
I found these vintage antique blush Whitehall stemware and pitcher while antiquing several months ago. I’m pretty sure I tripped over myself getting those in my hands! A favorite in a growing collection of Fostoria.

I love having layers for a table setting. The wicker charger is the base for the table setting. Then I added vintage mango red fiestaware dinner plates. The top dishes are vintage fall snack plates. Each features a fall colored fruits.

4. Combine Formal Embroidered Napkins with Casual Checked Ones
I layered the napkins as well. The first is a very casual soft yellow check. I topped it with a similarly colored embroidered napkin, and placed both inside wood napkin rings, to tie them back to the wicker charger. The vintage faux bamboo flatware is a favorite of mine, purchased at an Estate Sale.

Here are similar table setting items. Remember, many of these are vintage, buy them if you love them, they will go quickly. Tap the images below to shop:
5. Use a Surprise Element
Lots of beautiful fall tables settings are topped off with a small grocery store pumpkin. I love that! But, as a surprise element for this table setting, I chose a beautiful pear. I love the color!
Hope you found inspiration on his easy colorful fall tablescape.
