Week Five – Curve Ball Edition

The DIY Small Bathroom Makeover on a Budget continues with Week Five – Curve Ball Edition. The beautiful ceiling was slated to be completed this week. The bad news: it is not. The good news: We did make contact with the curve ball that is ceiling tile installation. BONUS: Our marriage survived.

Our One Room Challenge sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens , “Prettify the Privy”, is headed toward home plate. Hurray!

Southern Nell-ish Light Fixture: Installed

Last week we disclosed the slight detour we made with the light fixture. I prefer to have a little touch of the ‘old south’ in every room in my house. This light fixture is just that touch. I find it adds elegance to what could be a bold free-spirited privy (look forward to seeing it in place next week.)

The Curve Ball – AKA: Ceiling Tile Installation

Thank goodness this ceiling tile is going to be worth jeopardizing my mariage (that may be just a tad bit over dramatic). You will have to come back next week to get see the exasperating curve ball that had both my grown son and my husband close to tears. In a future post I will share more ideas on installing ceiling tile and how to avoid the same challenges we survived. You won’t believe the color choice.

The Accessories

This more is more girl has almost decided to keep the wall art to a minimum. With the help of my Instagram followers, I had chosen a beautiful piece of art for the space. When I added it to the cart and saw the price of shipping, I second guessed the idea. I’m glad I did, as the vanity and the ceiling tile hold the space, and I fear that art work would have been too busy. But here is a peek at the piece I used.

Here are the items you can look forward to in the final reveal next week.

  • wall art
  • hand towels
  • rug
  • soap dispenser / candle

So, we’ll continue to stretch the boundaries of our marriage and install the remaining ceiling tile, and crown molding. Then it’s all fun from there, adding the accessories for the photo shoot. Oh yeah! I almost forgot about that tricky photo shoot. I’ve got to start thinking on that task.
