Week One – Prettify the Privy
Folks, I’ve been blogging for four years now, and I’ve known about the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge for that long as well. I’ve always wanted to jump in, and this fall the urge to participate overcame my impending anxiety.
If you found me through the one room challenge link, I’m just so proud to meet you! I’m Lori Nell, of Southern Nell Gracious Living, a DIY and Home Decor Blogger. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for following along on this 5 week journey of transformation. I’ve a good idea that the room will not be the only thing transforming.

Now, about the “chosen one“. First, let’s prepare the mind, shall we? Think… small but mighty…. pint-sized powerhouse…. good things come in small packages…. BECAUSE, I’ve chosen the smallest room in our home, the main floor powder room, affectionately known in the south, and heretofore referred to as — “THE PRIVY” as my One Room Challenge.

Above is the before. I”ll admit , at first glance it’s not that bad, right? But, let’s just take a closer look, shall we?

What you’re viewing is a brilliant idea gone horribly and altogether wrrrrrong. For, yes, even a seasoned DIY-Home Blogger can get it wrong sometimes. This wall color “experiment” would be one of those times.

Exactly where is the brilliance, you may be asking. I understand your question, and will in no way hold it against you. However, I assure you the brilliance WAS in my head. This sad bronzey, washed out copper-like, dirty pennyish wall color was the most endearing, subtle yet tantalizing shade of metallic rose gold the minds eye could ever behold. WE CAN SEE, however, the attempt to bring that color, a mere notion, into reality fell short of that vision.

Not being one to wallow in self pity, let just us move on, shall we? For the new plans are magnificent. Here is a a glimpse into the “new” brilliant idea.
One Week Challenge – Mood Board

As I am not one to wallow in self pity, neither am I one to “give a way too much on the first date”. So, I’ll just give you that little “peck on the cheek”, and invite you back here for our second date. BHG/ORC–week two — next Thursday. We will head on down to first base and explore the wall color choice, and who knows what else. Don’t be late.
Here’s the Before Tour of the Privy
