Week Six – Better Homes and Gardens – One Room Challenge
This post contains details on the Chinoiserie Master Bedroom Makeover – Lighting Edition.
Welcome back for Week 6 of the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge. The One Room Challenge was paused for Week 5, as we were all encouraged to listen and learn of the injustices that people of color face in too many of our systems. I was blessed immensely by many social media accounts of people of color that I might not have otherwise discovered, and happy to share them.

Chinoiserie Master Bedroom Makeover – Lighting Edition
Sharing the lighting choices for the Chinoiserie Master Bedroom would be a great idea. We were so very close to completing those elements this week. I even put off posting this to the last possible minute, Sunday evening, in hopes that what I believe will be my top choice for bedside lamps would arrive. But, in true challenge form, the delivery was slated for 9:00 p.m. last evening, and at 9:10 p.m. the tracking information vanished, disappeared all together for a while. When it reappeared it was actually one city back on the route. HMMM! Hoping the new delivery estimate will hold true, tomorrow evening at 9:00 p.m. I’m confident it will be worth the wait.
Here are a couple of the other contenders. (By the way, I realize I’m just giving you all little peeks at the room. My hope is that those small tastes will bring you back each week, and ultimately keep you with me until the big reveal.)
Several years ago, I found a gorgeous 1970s chandelier with a fun story. The owner shared with me that she had purchased this chandelier at an antique store in downtown Kansas City, and that the curator told her it was featured in the home of a prominent Kansas Citian in a 1970s edition of Arcitectural Digest. I have yet to discover that specific edition of the magazine, but I have no reason to doubt the story, as she is a beauty!!
Some might think the chandelier is the most beautiful element in the room, I could be persuaded. You can peek the feature I created for the tray ceiling, intended highlight the beauty. There will be more detailed information on that feature and how to complete it coming your way.
The sitting area in the space had one can light. We will be relocating a vintage pendant that is currently in my office to the sitting area. The scale will be much better in this space, and I have a larger light fixture that will work in the office. Here it is waiting for transfer papers!
