A captivating blog hop It’s a Colorful Life – Fall Home Tour. This fall home tour is filled with colorful fall home decorating ideas you can not miss.
Hello sweet color loving friends!
It’s time for another seasonal tour with my favorite colorful Blog and Instagram Friends.
Get your self ready for an eye popping fall home tour.
If you are coming from my long time – IG friend, Monica of Monica Wants It, I’m so so very glad you are here.
I’m Lori Nell, of Southern Nell’s Gracious Living and I love COLOR, CHINOISERIE, and I’m as SOUTHERN as sweet tea, grits, a string of pearls, and a gingham top. All these ideas come together to create my design style.
I’m just so proud to meet you.
Today we will tour my fall home. Many of you have been around a while and know I switch things up every year. I don’t purchase all new seasonal décor, I just use what I have in new ways, thrift or antique a couple of items to DIY, and admire it until the next season.

The Autumn Front Porch
Hello beautiful! Show me a mum that wouldn’t want to saunter up to this front door. (This past summer we had to paint the outside of our home and take care of wood rot and replace some windows….you know the delights of home ownership. We have to do all the maintenance things to take care of our investment.)
We choose to do a huge color change on the outside, and the door color was the icing on the cake.
So, when fall came around, I knew exactly which mums and planters and cone flowers I wanted to use with the “shy” new front door.
You can read all about the details on the fall front porch HERE.
The Fall Entry Way
If I were showing partiality, and I never would, but if I were, I would say this small little footprint of a foyer, or as I call it My Front Parlor (said with the slowest most sugary southern accent possible), is my favorite area to add seasonal décor to in my home.
It’s grandeur comes with the soaring 3 story ceilings.
Unfortunately, small spaces with soaring ceilings present the biggest challenge for photographing. I’m sure I need to invest in or rent or borrow a special lens for the camera, and one day I may. But for now, let’s do our best to give you a good look at this small space all dressed for fall.
And we can’t have fall with out the hardest working rodent around! He deserves a cheetah bow, right?
If you’d like to see this space decorated for spring or Christmas here are a couple of posts:
However, I have fabulous plans for this Christmas so I invite you to subscribe to my blog, and you’ll never miss a post.

Fall Living Room
The beautiful oranges of fall (my favorite color on earth), are not found in my home decor. Typically, my seasonal decor reflects the colors of my home, like the foyer you just left.
But, I love embracing the oranges of fall in the living room. They are displayed outside of the window in my 25 year old Sugar Maple. These images were taken before she changed colors. So, if I needed an excuse to embrace the oranges, I had one.
(The mid century swan is a favorite DIY rescue of mine from an Estate Sale a few year ago. You can read about it HERE.)
And while we’re talking my favorites, I’ll talk a little about gingham. This southern lady loves gingham. I will add it anytime I can in both my wardrobe and in my home.
There was a time not that long ago when I had a touch of that beautiful southern stable in every room. For now, this pumpkin and a couple of fall ribbons will do the trick.

Autumn in the Kitchen
To round out this fall home tour we will visit the fall kitchen.
Maybe (certainly) I’m not a spectacular cook.
But, they say the kitchen is the heart of most homes, right? So, we’re more than happy to spend some time in the kitchen adding seasonal decor. I suppose that counts for something!
(We remodeled this kitchen this time last year. Boy, we’re glad that journey is behind us. You can get a good look at the kitchen makeover HERE.)
You know us southern ladies love our silver! I usually have at least a piece or two out to enjoy. This tea pot was my sweet mother-in-laws! I’m so honored she gave it to me. She had six beautiful daughters (who can borrow it any time they want to), still she showed up at my home for dinner with this tea pot, sugar, and creamer and wanted me to have it. Love it, and love her!
The kitchen window shelf provides an ideal spot to display my mercury glass pumpkin collection.
